Borderlands 4 takes you to Kairos, a planet under the Timekeeper and his Order. As a Vault Hunter, you tackle missions, collect weapons and gear, and develop a build through Action Skills and branching skill trees.
You can explore Kairos solo or in online co-op with up to four players total. Co-op uses level scaling and individual difficulty. Cross-play requires a SHiFT account.
Builds, Combat and Exploration
Action Skills and branching skill trees shape the abilities your Vault Hunter uses. The weapons and equipment you collect provide the other part of a build, with the loot chase running through missions, combat and free exploration. Your skill choices and gear work together to define that build.
Double jumping, gliding, dodging and grappling give you ways to move during combat. A hover bike helps with travel across the open areas. Kairos includes green fields, towering peaks and deserts, with dynamic events and warring factions alongside its missions.
Vault Hunters and Additional Content
The base game introduces four new Vault Hunters, with paid content adding further options. Loveless is available separately from the FL4K and the Last Resort story content: buying Loveless alone does not unlock the Providence map and missions.

On Providence, you help FL4K rescue Mr. Chew. A Tediore expedition led by five managers serving Lieutenant Harmony occupies the island. Our guide covers the requirements and mission starting point for players ready to begin that story.
