Last Epoch lets you change your build later. The procedure depends on whether you mean a skill tree, passive points, mastery or an equipped blessing. Current official support confirms all four; older claims that mastery is fundamentally permanent no longer apply to this system.
Change Skills and Skill Points
Open the skill window and specialised skill tree. Respec removes points or changes specialisation. Before confirming, read Minimum Skill Level: points above that level are not simply immediately available again and must be earned back.
The new skill begins at its applicable minimum level and can receive accelerated experience. The window displays the bonus and minimum. A major switch immediately before a difficult boss can temporarily weaken your build despite sufficient character level.
- Record the old skill’s role and required build connections.
- Open its specialised tree and select the appropriate respec action.
- Check minimum level and consequences in the confirmation display.
- Allocate immediately available points and re-earn remaining skill levels.
- Check the action bar and synergies before difficult content.
Passives and Mastery
Chronomancer Lerinne redistributes passive points in towns, marked by a purple brain on the map. Changing mastery requires visiting Lerinne at the End of Time. The same NPC does not mean mastery changes are possible at every location.
Respect connected nodes’ prerequisites. A point supporting other choices cannot usefully be considered in isolation. Displayed costs and permitted changes govern; a universal gold amount for every character would be unreliable.
Change Blessings
Chronomancer Nyx handles equipped Blessings. Find this NPC at the End of Time near the Monolith of Fate portals, marked by a golden brain. This differs from both the skill window and passive respecs through Lerinne.
| Change | Location | Important Consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Specialised skill or skill points | Skill window | Re-earn points above minimum level |
| Passive points | Chronomancer Lerinne in towns | Account for dependencies and displayed costs |
| Mastery | Lerinne at the End of Time | Location is a prerequisite |
| Equipped blessing | Chronomancer Nyx near Monolith portals | Separate selection route for Blessings |
If “points are missing”, first check whether you changed skill levels or passives. Their different refund routes are not one shared points pool. Changing equipment with additional skill levels is another case and should not be confused with removing normally earned skill points.
